Little Amal Walks NY
In 2022, I had the extraordinary opportunity to serve as Producer for Little Amal Walks NYC, a 12-foot puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee girl who journeyed through all five boroughs, meeting artists, civic leaders, and communities along the way. This large-scale, city-wide public art project was a practice in radical hospitality and civic imagination. Working with St. Ann’s Warehouse and the team of The Walk, I collaborated with hundreds of artists and organizations to craft poetic, site-specific encounters—part ritual, part street theater, part call to conscience. We didn’t just move a puppet through the city—we moved people. Amal asked us to look up, to gather, and to remember our shared humanity in public space.
